This morning my power went out for less than 5 seconds. All my ‘things’ went out, naturally. Everything came back on, except my computer. I tried everything,  to no avail. It was dead. I started thinking about buying a new one and get all my files restored (I have Carbonite). As I walked out the door to shop for a new computer I thought to myself ‘let me call Mark, my computer expert son’, maybe he has an idea.

I explained to him what had happened, and he suggested that I unplug the computer, then hold down its power button for 5 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

I followed his instructions and, voila!, It came back on!

I asked him why and he explained to me that holding down the power button eliminates any residual charges on the mother board.

He is GOOD and has a bag full of these money saving tricks.

So, if you have a problem, give him a call. If he can’t fix it, nobody else can.
